With all of the current national revelations about child abuse in sport the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs wish to announce that they are confident that the child protection schemes they have in place have prevented and will continue to prevent any abuse in their 100plus member clubs.

County secretary Steve Foster (pictured) said: “We have had our child protection schemes in place for several years which complement individual club policies.

“We have always ensured that the procedures we have in place provide excellent support for junior golf and club junior organisers and it is much more stringent than in many other sports.

“But we will never be complacent about child protection and will always be looking to implement any new ideas that can reinforce our current guidelines to ensure juniors and their parents that they can enjoy their golf in a safe and secure environment and we will be contacting our clubs to see if they need any help in any matters regarding this at any time.”
