Browne aiming high at Moss Rose

- SHELDAN KEAY

NEW Macclesfield Town signing Rhys Browne is setting his sights high after joining the club on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old winger arrives from League Two team Grimsby Town after a deal was agreed between the two sides.

He made an instant impact, after scoring one of the goals for the Silkmen during their 3-1 FA Trophy win against AFC Sudbury.

Browne is now hoping to kick on from here and is delighted to be playing for Macc over the next few months.

“The manager spoke to my agent and they came to an agreement. It was a good move for me to come here and get some games under my belt,” he told the club’s official website.

Browne previously played for fellow National League side Aldershot Town, and has come up against Macclesfield last season.

It was during that game that the youngster was convinced making the move to the Moss Rose would be wise.

“I played against Macclesfield last season and they played the way that I want to play, it suits me,” he said.

“You’ve always got to have ambition. Whilst I am here, I want to win games and make sure that Macclesfield get what they deserve.”

Browne began his career in the youth side at Norwich City before then going on to have a spell with Charlton Athletic.

He eventually joined Aldershot in 2015, and went on to score six goals for them in 37 games last season.

That fine run of form caught interest from the Football League, with a move to Grimsby coming for an undisclosed fee during the summer.

He has only been able to register eight substitute appearances for Grimsby during this campaign though, allowing him to now make the loan switch to Macclesfield.
