Fun seekers walk this way
SPRING will soon be here which means the Starlight Walk is on its way – a leisurely evening stroll through the beautiful grounds of Capesthorne Hall on Friday, April 21, in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.
Organisers are encouraging walkers to take advantage of a special Early Bird offer.
Starlight Walk, over a scenic route under twinkling stars, is one of the most enjoyable charity walks in the country, featuring a forest stretch on the estate.
Many walkers have inspiring stories about how East Cheshire Hospice has touched their lives, especially those who have lost friends and relatives.
Walkers light candles and drop pebbles into a pond to remember loved ones.
Others join in just for the fun of being part of the unique family atmosphere.
The flagship event is firmly established in the East Cheshire Hospice fundraising calendar.
More than 600 walkers took part in 2016, raising around £50,000 for the charity.
Gates open at 6pm with the walk starting at 7.30pm.
Walkers have the option of one loop over 2.5k, two loops at 5k or four loops over 10k.
Early Bird registration ends on February 28 and is £7 for a child and £12 for an adult
Jessica Ruth, events manager at the hospice, said: “There’s always a terrific atmosphere at the Starlight Walk and it’ll soon be here so we’d ask people to sign up early.
“Starlight Walk is part of the bereavement journey for many people and a fitting way of helping them remember loved ones.
“But there are many walkers who just want to be part of the occasion.
“The funds raised are the equivalent of a week’s care at East Cheshire so the donations we receive from entries and sponsorship are vital to keep the hospice running.”
There will be live music, with hot food and drinks available and free parking.
Popular DJ Darren Proctor is the host. Businesses interested in sponsorship can call Jess on 01625 664997.
To register go to eastcheshirehospice.org. uk/starlightwalk. Booking forms are also available from the hospice and its charity shops.
