Bingo night success
A BINGO night hit the jackpot for the What Women Want group as they continue their amazing fundraising.
The disco/bingo session at Tytherington School attracted 178 women who raised £5,000 and raised the roof with their rendition of Sweet Caroline
The WWW group donated £35,000 to the hospice, having already raised £30,000 from a Rio-themed ball in November. Some £15,000 of that total will go towards funding a new East Cheshire Hospice @ Home service which starts in a few months. It will allow the hospice to help 750 patients a year, a 50 per cent increase. The latest donation is also funding a bladder scanner and a Thera-Trainer bike for the Sunflower Wellbeing Centre.
Jayne Carter, chair of WWW, said: “We raised more from this bingo night than any of the others and we’d like to thank everyone for their fantastic support, including donations for our wheelbarrow of booze.”
WWW have so far raised £185,000 towards a target of £250,000 by next year, when they celebrate their 10th birthday and the hospice’s 30th anniversary. Their next big event is a ball on November 10 at Cranage Hall. Details on the WWW Facebook page.
