Offers on table for Silkmen

- SHELDAN KEAY

MACCLESFIELD Town are waiting to hear back from a number of existing players about whether they will accept new contracts for the 2017/18 season.

As the Express went to print on Tuesday, the club still didn’t know about the futures of five of their players.

David Fitzpatrick, Kingsley James, George Pilkington, Craig Ross and Danny Whitaker have all been offered deals but are yet to indicate if they will stay.

Andy Halls, John McCombe and Ollie Norburn had also been offered new deals, but they have decided to leave the Silkmen and join other teams.

In terms of the players that have been offered deals, Fitzpatrick has been a key part of the Macc team since he joined in September 2015 after an impressive spell for Southport.

McCombe arrived at the Moss Rose in February 2016, having played for the likes of Port Vale, Mansfield and York during his career.

James has spent the past season at Macclesfield and went on to make 38 appearances, scoring five goals in the process.

Pilkington is one of the most experienced players Macc have in their ranks, making over 150 appearances for the club since 2014.

Ross joined Macclesfield last summer, and shared goalkeeping duties with Scott Flinders during the course of the campaign.

Whitaker is the longest serving player for the Silkmen, spending a total of nine years with the team over two separate spells.

He first played for Macc from 2001 to 2006, before he then returned to the club in 2013.
