PUB car park to install ParkingEye cameras. The Legh Arms in Prestbury has signed up to the scheme to deter car park abuse (Express, August 23) Charles Hall: Imagine deciding to have a few drinks and leaving your car there until the next day? Most expensive drink ever. Foolish move. Charlotte Heustice: I got a ticket from Parking ye for being in a car park for six hours, when actually I visited the shop twice. Definitely will not be visiting any establishment that uses them. Gail Mclean: Everyone says ignore the fine there’s nothing they can do, well I got ticket and took no notice and didn’t pay, now I have a CCJ against my name, but it will be sorted very soon as I’ve cleared it now. So don’t be fooled that nothing will happen to you if you don’t pay, it can take them a few years but yes they will get you in the end. Carl Wainwright: ParkingEye will just alienate customers and won’t actually do any good – who actually takes any notice of them? Lesley Cox: Oh dear... what a shame. do we really need this in Prestbury? Lucie Hood: Hi everyone – as the landlady of The Legh Arms Prestbury and the person responsible for making this move, I would like to address your concerns. The pub’s private car park, as it always has been, is FREE for patrons and residents of the pub. All that will be required in the future is that you punch in your car registration at the bar when you arrive. In this way, the car park will no longer be abused by people who use it to go to elsewhere in the village and free it up for our customers. Once your number plate is punched in by one of our staff members, the car parking space is on a 24-hour timer, which will give you plenty of time to come and pick your car up the next day after a few drinks. There are two large, free public car parks in Prestbury at Shirley’s and Springfields for users of other businesses in the village. The penalties for those abusing the pub’s private car park are legally enforceable but those who use the car park for its purpose have absolutely nothing to worry about. If anyone has any further questions please do let me know, I’d be happy to help – you can email me at info@legharmsprestbury.pub or call on 01625 829130. Thank You.

MACCLESFIELD to launch its own Pride event (online and page 7) Tom Blackwell: Great thing for the town. Those wondering why it’s important, look at some of the comments. Some, even though joking between mates, directly show why pride events need to happen! James Leo: Funny isn’t it how people see LGBTQ people enjoying the right to be themselves for a few days per year in a public way and start to talk about pride being “shoved down their throats”? A few moments reflection might bring those people to the realisation that even in the modern day that is how many LGBTQ people feel all the time, as almost everything is geared towards heterosexuality. While the simple act of being open about my sexuality in public places (I am talking about simple things like a peck on the cheek or holding hands) continues to be something I worry about doing for fear of repercussions then I refuse to accept that I have equality. Pride is about visibility, and showing that we are, for one day at least, not scared to be visible. If that is something you do not like then you are at liberty to look away or to be somewhere else. No one is forcing you to approve, but nor are they forcing you to look. If you want to deny LGBTQ people the same rights to be visible that you have, that is oppressive. Rights are not like cake, me having more does not mean that you get less. Laura Kate: Whilst this hospice is a more than worthy charity in need of aid and I by no means would want to deprive them money for resources. I don’t think it’s right to use/exploit a pride event to raise money a non LGBT+ charity. Why not donate the proceeds to a local LGBT foundation or something of the like? Mika Jack Daniel Johnson: AMAZING NEWS! Macclesfield has so much to celebrate and I can’t wait...I’d love to get involved! Loolie Bennett: Why Rainbow Day? Why not Macclesfield Pride? Katie Alice Nielson: Signed up to help today, I can’t wait, this will be awesome Sandra WoodallL: How do I sign up to help as this is the first I knew about it? Want to help with any arts and crafts idea if they are needed. Steph Calder: Oh my god, this is amazing! This is such a good idea, though. I really hope it takes off, and we have a Macclesfield Pride next year. Andy Langdon: Brilliant Christina Webb: I think it is a great idea! Rebecca Prunty: Awesome news! Cant wait. Darren Gilliatt: be fun. Should
