Beer shop is brewing up plan to train new workers
AN artisan brewery has hailed its partnership with Macclesfield College as ‘a game changer.’
Fiveclouds based in Market Place, Macclesfield, is looking to recruit new staff over the next 12 months.
It has teamed up with Maxim Business Training, the college’s Further and Higher Education brand, which runs an apprenticeship programme.
This partnership will help provide staff to fulfil the business’s ambitious expansion plans, which include a move into catering and hospitality, by offering a small plates menu and fine wines.
Since its establishment in 2014, Fiveclouds has grown rapidly.
Owners Josh Sharples and Tom Lewis didn’t have the time, resources or finances to standardise training with their existing staff in the areas of their proposed expansion.
Maxim has helped deliver the required training and skills.
Josh said: “Money and time are finite and we were quick to recognise that we needed help identifying the right training, not only for ourselves as a business partnership, but also for our team, both now and in the future.
“We were fortunate to form a strategic partnership with Macclesfield College and Maxim. Working with them, we completed a basic review of our skills and training needs.
“This is a game changer for any small business.
“For us, it means training can become an immediate reality.
“It also gives us the level of confidence to invest and grow, as the additional support we are receiving makes us a better, more streamlined business.”
Meanwhile, Maxim is celebrating more success with another local partnership.
Bollington-based marketing agency Embrace uses Maxim to train its apprentices and recently took on three college learners.
The firm, which led by Becky Reardon, was shortlisted in two categories at the E3 Business Awards - New Business Set-up of the Year and Skills, Education & Training. A spokesman for the college said: “Being shortlisted for an award in Skills, Education and Training, is as pleasing to everyone at Maxim as it is to the team at Embrace, as this dynamic and vibrant agency are extremely passionate about apprenticeships, and tirelessly dedicated to investing in the development of individuals throughout their career.”
