Builders dish up new kitchen
APRE-SCHOOL will start the new term with a new kitchen thanks to a generous donation from a house builder.
Staff at The Hollies PreSchool, in Poynton, approached Redrow to ask if they had any left over kitchen materials from the firm’s development at Woodford Garden Village.
But the housebuilder has gone one step further and given the pre-school a brand new kitchen of its own.
Debbie Moore-Grundy, manager of The Hollies, said: “We’d hoped that Redrow might have a spare kitchen from one of the show homes and so I made an approach.
“Our kitchen, where we prepare snacks for the children, was in desperate need of replacing and we needed to do it over the summer holidays.
“Redrow came to visit us to see how they could help and were only too happy to support us.
“They didn’t have a spare kitchen from the show home it transpired, but they went one better and supplied and installed a brand new ivory gloss one for us.
“We are extremely grateful for the donation of the kitchen and the speed at which it was installed too.
“Tony, Shane and the team were really efficient. The staff love it.”
The kitchen was installed by Redrow’s site staff, led by area construction manager, Tony Gordon, who provided and installed the brand new Symphony kitchen.
Tony Gordon, area construction manager for Redrow Homes (North West) said: “At Woodford Garden Village we are building a brand new community and we want to make sure we are also good neighbours to those around us.
“Thanks to Redrow’s community fund we have been able to help The Hollies with a new kitchen, and it’s been a great opportunity for our site team – in particular Shane Jones – to get involved in this transformation.
“We are sure it will make a big difference to the staff and little ones who spend their days there, some of whom may be future residents at Woodford Garden Village.”
Redrow is transforming the former site of the historic Woodford Aerodrome into a garden village which will eventually feature around 1,000 homes in a number of different phases.
Phase two, Lancaster Green, is now well underway.
