Sad way to depart for Yates

-

Continued from back sheer luck was going against us, particularly as Danny Whitaker struck the bar in the second half.

“I think as a group of players you feel that tension building. I have spoken to the lads and we talked about being more ruthless, when you are on top you certainly need to take some chances and I think over the 7 or 8 games I have been here we haven’t taken enough of those chances.”

It was Yates’ last game here as he ended his short loan spell with the club as Jared Hodgkiss returns to fitness.

“I hadn’t played any football for a year, which is a long time and I jumped at the chance to come here on loan, it happened overnight. I have come in played pretty much every minute of every game, other than Sutton with the 4G pitch.

“I have enjoyed coming here and playing and it’s just disappointing that if I go back today it’s on the back of a loss and that will certainly stick with me for three or four days.”

Macclesfield’s weekly development football sessions return this week.
