Will you or won’t you on Will Week?
THE annual East Cheshire Hospice Will Week, which takes place at the beginning of next month, could be renamed “WILL you put it off once again?” Week.
That’s the slogan being used to publicise the week, which will see solicitors from across Cheshire donate their time and expertise to support the hospice.
Statistics show that around two-thirds of people do not get around to writing a will and assume that their estate arrangements will be sorted without a will being in place.
So nine firms of solicitors from the Macclesfield, Buxton, Bredbury, Poynton, Congleton, Knutsford, Stockport, Holmes Chapel, Wilmslow and Sandbach areas will be encouraging more take-up by waiving their normal fees during the week of October 2 to 6 while raising much-needed funds for the hospice.
“We are hugely grateful to all these firms for taking part,” said corporate and community relationship manager, Camilla Crockett.
“At the end of each appointment, the solicitor will be able to tell you how much a will would usually cost.”
Then those taking advantage of the work will be asked to make a donation, with all proceeds given directly to the hospice.
“Having an up-to-date will is incredibly important, no matter what your age or health,” says Camilla. “Not only does it ensure that your estate and belongings are distributed according to your wishes, but it’s also a way of specifying more personal preferences, such as arrangements for your children or details for your funeral.”
Camilla added: “As a local charity, East Cheshire Hospice relies on the generosity of our community to pay for more than 80 per cent of our costs, so you can be sure that your donation will make a real difference to our patients and their families.”
