BIG PICTURE
STOP WASTING MONEY
another brilliant example of how completely out of touch the council are with the residents. I despair. Steven Forrest: If they want to invest in traffic schemes then the Flower Pot junction needs a filter lane and the Moss Lane to Congleton Road. Why not spend the money there? Nothing wrong with Hibel Road. Karen Crosland: If it ain’t broke .... traffic lights here will be a nightmare. Council priorities are all wrong - they should be focusing on what really matters. Hibel Road is busy but it works .... leave it alone! Brian Jones: What about filling in some potholes instead? Many years ago they used to replace traffic lights with roundabouts. Crazy Viv Denny: If its not broken don’t try to fix it, there’s nothing wrong with this roundabout! Try putting traffic lights in accident prone spots like Star Lane where they are actually needed!! Stuart Kirk: I used to live in Aylesbury in Bucks, the council there replaced the roundabouts with traffic lights (for a lot less than £3.5m each!), it was a total disaster! The town is now gridlocked every day. There are many other more worthy causes that this obscene amount of money could be spent on. If this goes ahead it will be a disgrace. Richard Slater: No mention of road improvement where they are destroying the greenbelt. They are planning to send traffic off the site on the south of Chelford Road through Robinson development and down Whirley Road to get to Macc...... honestly...its in the plans Val Pownall: How much!!!!? Perhaps they’d also like to compensate drivers for broken springs caused by potholes. We’ve had two. Roundabouts work fine if people don’t block them. Do you remember when we had traffic lights everywhere but they were replaced (no doubt at great expense) with roundabouts to help Thompsons new van (below) where he worked for forty years and I as a young boy worked there myself until 1955 when I left school (Nostalgia, traffic flow? Philip Slack: It doesn’t need that much spending on it. Just redo the white lines. We don’t need weeks of traffic disruption while they muck it up Keri Louise: Stop wasting money and invest it in things for us to do/places to go for children and families. Always wasting on stupid ideas. Christopher Ratcliffe: What a waste of money! The roundabout seems to work well to me, even at rush hour. This council needs to get a serious dose of reality. There are so many more important things to be done with that money than fix something that isn’t broken. October 25).
