Club delighted at trophy win
THE town’s photography club has won back a regional trophy with a series of fantastic photographs.
Macclesfield Camera Club has been named the winner of this year’s Robertshaw Trophy, which is awarded as part of an annual competition between five clubs: Macclesfield Camera Club, Leek Photographic Club, Holmes Chapel Photo- graphic Society, Blythe Bridge Camera Club and Crewe Photographic Society.
Kevin Blake, from the club, said they won back the trophy after losing out to Blythe Bridge last year.
He said: “The standard of entrants this year was very high with the judge Bob Dennis finding it difficult to separate out the images due to the quality on view on the night.
“However in the end Macclesfield Camera Club stole the show with its winning entry ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’ by Kristina Kokavcova as part of its entry, all of the club’s images doing well on the night.
“The competition this year was hosted very enjoyable by Crewe Photographic Society.”
The Macclesfield Camera Club submitted 12 pictures by 10 of their photographers: Conor Molloy, Steve Bolton, Anthony Gosling, Dave Tolliday, Kristina Kokavcova, Steve Gresty, Alison Lomax, Paul Scott, Kevin Lomax and Kevin Blake, which were chosen during a special selection evening at the club.
But it was Kristina’s image that was credited with helping them win back the title.
Kristina, 34, from Macclesfield, said: “I am really pleased and touched that I was able to produce the winning image at Robertshaw Trophy competition this year.
“My love for photographing people stems from my interest in human experience and emotional connections. ‘Will you still love me tomorrow’ has been appreciated by many people and I am grateful it tells a story that viewers can relate to in their own way.”
Guests and new members are always welcome at the club, which meets from 8pm on Monday nights in Macclesfield Library.
