Confident approach key in Cup tie

- HAVARD VEGE

AFTER their disappointing 2-1 defeat against Eastleigh, Macclesfield midfielder Elliott Durell is hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturdays FA Cup first round tie at Forest Green Rovers.

“We need to make sure we work hard the next week, obviously turn it around in the FA Cup and look to pick up on our league form again.”

The Silkmen lost out on their opportunity to go back top in the National League, with Dover’s thirty-three points being one more than the Cheshire club.

He said: “I don’t think anything changes really, it’s still tight. Nothing’s won and lost in October.

“We’ve got to be positive, we went on a six-game winning streak and there’s no reason why we can’t do that again.”

Forest Green, who got promoted to League Two last season, has been struggling in the relegation zone this season, but following three victories in a row they are currently sitting on 20th place.

“We know what to expect when you play Forest Green. They were a good footballing side when they were in this league, but they’ve been down the bottom of their league now. They’re probably going to be struggling for confidence, whereas we were the opposite a couple of weeks ago. We were buzzing for every game, and we’ve got to carry on being positive and look to go into every game as if we can win it.”
