Cadets on parade to mark battle
THE Bollington and Macclesfield Sea Cadets took part in a huge parade to mark a historic Naval battle.
The troop joined more than 200 cadets from neighbouring units to recognise Trafalgar Day - which honours the Battle of Trafalgar and gives cadets an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents.
Some Bollington cadets had the honour of joining the ‘Guard’, with the Commanding Officer acting as 2nd Officer of the Guard for the ceremony and parade.
Bollington & Macclesfield Sea Cadets Commanding Officer Lt (SCC) Karen Black RNR said: “It was an honour to represent Cheshire & Staffordshire district at the event.
“Having cadets chosen for the guard gave them a sense of pride and to be asked to act as 2nd Officer of the Guard furthered that support and pride in our unit.”
Bollington & Macclesfield unit is part of the Sea Cadets, a national youth charity, which offers water-based and land-based adventure to young people aged 10 to 18. The Bollington unit meets on Mondays and Thursdays, between 7pm to 9.30pm, at St John’s Primary School, Grimshaw Lane, Bollington.
