GIVEN the dire situation at Cheshire East Council with four separate police investigations on-going and senior officers suspended on full pay, one might think that the Tories, after years of mismanagement would welcome the offer of support from opposition groups.

Not a bit of it, indeed the Labour group were shouted down at a recent council meeting when the offer was made.

The Tories slow handclapped and banged the tables as members of the opposition were speaking.

Councillor Bailey and her colleagues scoffed at the suggestion of a Cross Party Cabinet and members of her group claimed that only they had a mandate from the people of Cheshire East to rule until the next election.

One even suggested that the ‘continued negativity’ from members, (although was careful not to mention some members of their own party), the media and social media was Mick Greenall:

YOUNG dad Gareth Oldham took his own life. A coroner criticised mental health services over delays in treating Mr Oldham who later affecting staff morale.

No, what is affecting staff morale and the confidence of the public is the incompetent manner in which the council is being run.

The assertion that all the issues are historical ring hollow when Coun Bailey fails to mention that she and some of her Cabinet members served in the Cabinet the whole of that time.

A Conservative called in this paper recently for ‘all parties to unite’ behind Coun Bailey, warning that the party image would be blighted for a generation.

It is not the opposition parties or the public that has created this shameful state of affairs, it is the Conservatives.
