Service to shine light on memories
THIS year’s Light Up A Life service looks set to be the biggest yet for East Cheshire Hospice.
The service will be held in two large tipi tents in the grounds of the hospice following last year’s success of a similar service.
The tipis come with a large indoor firepit to guarantee a warm and inviting glow and around 100 singers from the Claritas Choir will ensure that the service is a special occasion.
In the run-up to the service, which takes place on Saturday, December 9, families are being asked to make a donation to the Light Up A Life Appeal.
Everyone who donates will receive a card bauble which can be personalised with memories of loved ones. The baubles will then be hung on a Christmas tree in the hospice chapel until Twelfth Night.
“Christmas can be a sad time for some families as thoughts often turn to our loved ones who may be a long way away or no longer with us,” said events manager Jo Boyd.
“Light Up A Life is a beautiful way of honouring the memory of those we have lost while helping others who may be facing their final Christmas together.”
The service begins at 3pm and will be led by hospice chaplain, Margaret Lillis.
All donations from the appeal will go towards supporting the work of the hospice. So far this year, the hospice inpatient unit has cared for 320 patients and 288 people have visited the Sunflower Wellbeing Centre. And in the first three weeks of the newly-launched Hospice @Home service, 24 patients and their families have been supported.
