Aerospace firm in multi-million pound growth scheme
AN aerospace company has been selected for a multi-million pound government-backed scheme.
Senior Aerospace BWT, in Adlington Park, Poynton, will now be part of the Sharing in Growth (SiG) programme after undergoing an intensive 12 week selection.
Employing around 380 staff, the specialist firm provides ultra-lightweight materials to international companies such as Mitsubishi and Bombardier.
As part of the deal, the programme will fund a £250m training and development programme, focused on leadership, culture and strategy.
It will also aim to help the firm reduce costs, improve efficiency and increase its turnover by more than 50 per cent.
Senior Aerospace BWT CEO Darren Butterworth said: “While Senior Aerospace BWT is already a successful business, our recent contract awards on the majority of regional and business new aircraft platforms mean that we need to adapt to meet customer expectations for a ramp up in production while focusing on delivery performance, cost and quality.
“Working with Sharing in Growth we have access to world-class training, coaching and guidance which will help us increase our capability and meet our growth plans in the face of global competition.”
To meet the £60bn demand for composites, the tech firm also recently invested in a new £1m research and development centre.
And according to Senior Aerospace BWT, the firm is also aiming to expand its 3D printing process and is looking for more innovative ways to create more complex composites.
The programme is also supported by the Regional Growth Fund and more than £150 million in private investment.
Andy Page, CEO of SiG, said: “We are delighted to welcome Senior Aerospace BWT onto our programme and want to play a pivotal role in ensuring they can fulfil their innovation and business ambitions.
“Since its inception in 2013 Sharing in Growth has delivered more than 1.7 million training hours. We have helped more than 50 companies to secure contracts and sustain growth by transforming their business strategy, improving workforce and leadership skills, and achieving new levels of operational performance in quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.”
The SiG programme is endorsed by Airbus, Boeing GE, and RollsRoyce.
