Thousands set to descend on town for big music festival

-

THOUSANDS of revellers are set to descend on the town this weekend for a day of live music and entertainment.

Macclesfield Festival is back for a second year at Priory Park, with attendance set to reach record levels.

And this year’s line up is packed with big names and talent, with the Happy Mondays and the Virginmarys headlining the main stage.

The man behind the one-day event, Andy Kleek, said excitement is building and that they are on course to beat last year’s 7,000 strong crowd.

He said: “Things are going really well. There is a real buzz about it now and people are travelling the world to be there, this Saturday (July 21).

“And we have got fans coming from all over the world for the festival. I was looking at the figures recently and I was quite surprised, there were people from Germany and America.

“And of course we’ve got people coming down from Manchester because of the Mondays.

He added: “It is really great for the town because I bumped into some fans last year who were telling us that they were staying for the whole weekend in the town, which is fantastic.”

Tickets for the event are still available and cost £25.00 for adults with a family ticket priced at £57.50. They can be purchased at macclesfieldfestival. co.uk/ from the Macclesfield Visitor Information Centre or Bargain Booze outlets in the town. You can also pay on the day
