Turning on the style at end of year proms
HIGH school pupils have been having a ball as they celebrated their end of year proms.
Teenagers from All Hallows Catholic College, in Macclesfield, put their glad rags on for the glitzy event at The Cottons Hotel and Spa in Knutsford.
And the youngsters spared no expense as a trail of Bentleys, limos and even an orange McLaren sports car lined up to drop the Year 11 students off before they were treated to a ‘mocktail’ and a threecourse meal.
Sixth Form pupil DJ Cook, spun the decks on the night, while Murray McLaren and Rosie Rogan were crowned Prom King and Queen.
Sophie Thomason, year learning leader (YLL), wished all of the students luck in the future.
She said: “A great night was had by all and it was a wonderful way to finish their five years at All Hallows.
“It has been a pleasure to be their YLL for the last four years and to see them grow and mature into the lovely young adults they have become.
“I wish them all the best in their futures, wherever that may take them.”
Year 13 pupils from the school have also been celebrating the end of their time at All Hallows.
They enjoyed a formal dinner and a disco at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, in Manchester.
Mrs Michelle Garvey, Head of Sixth Form and Acting Deputy Head said: “It was lovely to meet with our students in a more informal setting to mark the end of their studies.”
Excited students from Macclesfield Academy, on Park Lane, have also been celebrating the end of their time at the school.
Year 11 pupils took a quirky approach to travel, with some arriving in police vans, on steam engines, a Scooby Doo van, and even a horse and cart, to the event at Hollin Hall, Kerridge.
The students got up to dance after speeches and awards were handed out.
Debbie Mathers, Year 10 and 11 coordinator, said the pupils deserved such a fantastic evening and that she was proud of them all.
She said: “It was a wonderfully entertaining evening and we thank Mrs Mathers for arranging the venue room so beautifully and making all of the award certificates.
“Our Year 11 students were a credit to themselves and we thank them too for making it such a special evening and a fitting finale to their time at The Academy.”
