This is a massive achievement for probably the best boxer to come out Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club – three times national junior champion and now national senior Elite champion, proving that hard work, commitment and dedication pays off.

The youngsters at MBBC were in awe having watched Karriss hitting the bags and doing some pad work with the coaches.

A club spokesman said: “It’s great when ex boxers give something back and Karriss took time to have pictures with kids and give them some pointers with regards training techniques and what is required to reach the top.

“The future is bright for Karriss as there’s no reason why she shouldn’t be on the GB squad for the next Olympics if she carries on as she is doing with the GB team over in Sheffield.

“The coaches would like to thank Karriss for taking time out of her busy training schedule, remembering her roots and the humble little gym and coaches that started her on the path she’s on. All the best champ onwards and upwards, great having you down.”
