Sex offender who is ‘a very high risk’ to girls is locked up

- CHRIS GEE

ASEX offender who poses ‘a very high risk’ to young girls is beginning a six-year sentence behind bars.

Haydn Nolon, of Macclesfield, groomed an underage girl using social media before having sex with her.

However the girl did not know that the defendant was a sex offender and subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), the court heard.

Nolon, 18, pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court to 12 offences, including sexual activity with a girl and multiple breaches of the SHPO.

He was given the SHPO as a juvenile for a sexual offence against a child under 16 and a separate offence of possessing indecent images of children.

Judge Simon Berkson said Nolon had ‘clearly and flagrantly’ breached the terms of his order.

He sentenced him to six years in a youth detention centre with an extended licence period of four years.

Sentencing, Judge Berkson said: “You pose a very high risk of doing serious harm to female children.”

Prosecutor Simon Parry told the court how in March this year Nolon used a Samsung mobile phone to groom the underage girl through the Snapchat messaging system.

Nolon also requested she send naked pictures of herself to him.

Mr Parry said that the defendant knew the girl was under the age of 16 but continued to message her.

She later visited his flat and they had sex, the court heard.

A victim impact statement, read out at court by Mr Parry, said: “Since this happened I’ve not been able to get him out of my head.

“I sit at home and cry. I get upset and hate him for all his lies. He’s messed my head up completely.”

She added that since Nolon’s arrest she had suffered from anxiety and her education had suffered.

Daniel Brooks, defending, said Nolon was affected by autism and speech and language difficulties.

He told the court: “The defendant accepts the prosecution case in full and he entered guilty pleas at the first opportunity.

“He knows he will get a significant prison sentence.”

Nolon pleaded guilty to a total of 12 offences, including inciting a child to engage in a sexual act, sexual activity with a child, breaching the terms of a sexual notification order and five breaches of a sexual harm prevention order.
