ABRIDE who planned her own wedding so successfully she decided to do it for other couples has been nominated for an award.

Marie Gallen, 29, who lives in Macclesfield, is the managing director of Butterfly Events – a company she founded after marrying husband Daniel, with whom she has three children.

It is a venue styling and event decoration business, which deals with wedding and other occasions.

And Butterfly Events, which is based on Shrigley Road, Pott Shrigley, has now been shortlisted in the decorator of the year award category at the English Wedding Awards 2018.

Marie said: “Since being a little girl I have always loved eve- rything to do with flowers and weddings.

“So when it came to planning my wedding, it was no surprise to everyone that I wanted to do as much as possible of it myself.

“It was from there that I made my dreams a reality and Butterfly Events was born.

“Since opening the business has grown from strength to strength.”

Marie will attend the awards, which take place at the Mecure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel today. Other events Marie caters for include baby showers, christenings and corporate events.

She recently worked at the Stockport Business Awards.

She said: “Planning an event can be really stressful, especially when it comes to getting all the design details right.

“We treat each wedding, party and celebration as if it were our own.”
