Passman puts boot into Blues

- NATIONAL TWO

AHAT-TRICK by winger Morgan Passman helped Tynedale ease to a bonus point victory away at Macclesfield, 38-15.

The result meant Macc remain in the bottom three and are now 11 points from safety.

Head Coach Marshall Gadd said: “Any loss is disappointing, I think we gave them a little bit too much respect and too many points in the first half, leaving us playing catch up and under pressure.”

Tynedale opened the scoring early in the first half through Passman, after a quick tap and go by scrum-half Matty Outson, caught the Macc defence off guard and the overlap on the left allowed Passman to score in the corner.

Fly-half Robert Parker scored the difficult conversion and the score became 7-0.

The away side added to their early lead, just a couple minute later through another try by Passman. A kick over the top by Parker, picked out the unmarked winger for his second of the day.

Parker then scored another difficult conversion and the score became 14-0 after just seven minutes.

Macc struggled to get into the game, in the opening quarter, frustrating the home crowd as they’re momentum kept being killed by giving away silly penalties.

However, Macc did get into the game on 21 minutes, scoring a try through Sam Broster, who scored after being picked out by an excellent and precise grubber kick by Tom Morton.

Fly half Morton just missed the conversion and the score was 14-5.

After half time, Tynedale started the better of the two sides, adding to their lead through a hat-trick try by Passman.

A kick in behind by Parker, was chased the quickest by the pacey left winger who gathered the ball and scored in the left corner.

Macc did get some needed momentum after Morton scored a penalty for the home side in front of the posts, to make it 19-8 after a high tackle by Ben Haigh on Macc forward Tom Burden.

Soon after, Tynedale added to their lead after a try by Liam Checksfield after good quick hands by the away backline gave the centre the space to score.

The conversion was scored, and the score became 26-8, with 25 minutes remaining.

Things went from bad to worse for Macc, as they went down to fourteen men after front row forward Tom Mantell was sin binned after not releasing after a tackle.

Tynedale then took advantage of the extra man in the pack, through a powerful maul which overpowered Macc’s pack and number eight Joe Mills was able to put the ball down for the score.

The conversion was scored, and the score line became 33-8.

Macc then scored the games next try through winger Myles Hall after he hit an excellent line of Morton’s pass, to break through a gap in Tynedale’s defensive line.

Morton’s conversion was scored, and the score became 33-15, with ten to play.
