Dance group headline festival

-

CHART-TOPPING band Soul II Soul are set to return to Macclesfield next summer.

The dance group, best known for 1989 hit Back to Life (However Do You Want Me), has been announced as one of the headline acts for the 2019 Macclesfield Festival.

It takes place at Macclesfield RUFC, on Priory Lane, on July 20.

Soul II Soul, winners of two Grammy Awards, are no strangers to Macclesfield having previously appeared at the Rewind Festival at Capesthorne Hall.

Back to Life was number one for four weeks and was one of the biggest selling songs of 1989.

The band, which features Jazzie B and Caron Wheeler, also had hits including Keep on Movin’.

Organisers of the Macclesfield Festival say other acts to perform there will be announced soon.

Tickets are currently at the second release discounted rate of £20 adult and £10 child.

Festival-goers have been warned that these prices will almost double as the event gets closer.

This year’s festival was headlined by legendary Manchester band the Happy Mondays.
