Passengers in dramatic car rescue as vehicle lands on its side

A DRIVER and three passengers were rescued after the car they were in crashed and landed on its side.

The silver Peugeot was involved in a collision at Tegg’s Nose Country Park, in Macclesfie­ld, on Monday afternoon at 3.20pm.

Police and firefighte­rs from Macclesfie­ld and Bollington were called to the scene.

Crews rescued four people from the car - three men aged 53, 80 and 82, as well as a 76-year-old woman. All suffered only minor injuries.

According to police no other vehicle was involved in the accident, which happened on Buxton Old Road.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival the crews discovered that the car was on its side and four people were trapped inside.

“The road was closed in both directions as the emergency services worked at the scene. Firefighte­rs made the car safe and got all four casualties out of the car. They were handed over to the care of paramedics and are believed to have only suffered minor injuries.”
