Parliament visit for pupils
BUDDING scientists from a Macclesfield school took a trip to London to attend a reception at the Palace of Westminster.
Adam Leach, 13, Oliver Lyons, 13, and Isobel Rayworth, 14, from Beech Hall School, Tytherington, also visited the Houses of Parliament after they were invited by MP Crispin Blunt.
He is the sponsor the Science in a Box event, which uses puzzles, board games and quizzes to bring the subject to life for youngsters.
The event was created by pharmaceutical company Pfizer, who has a community partnership with the school.
The pupils joined members of the government and other organisations to discuss the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects and how young people can be encouraged to pursue a career in them.
James Allen, headmaster at Beech Hall School, said: “We were honoured to have been invited to the Houses of Parliament.”
