Five-star under 18s cruise past Barnton
MACCLESFIELD Town Under 18s preserved their perfect Mid Cheshire Division One record at the Moss Rose as they secured a 5-1 win over Barnton.
The match started at a blistering pace, with both sides having opportunities within the opening minutes.
Tthe visitors took the lead when Quilty’s looping header across goal dipped just under the crossbar and into the far corner of the net.
This catalysed Jim Hall’s side into a period of concerted possession, which saw them lay siege to the Barnton goal in search of an equaliser.
On 16 minutes Jordan brilliantly turned on the edge of the box, before unleashing a powerful drive which he was unlucky to see fly marginally over the bar.
Parity was duly restored just before the half hour mark, when Jake Hall hit a thunderbolt of a strike from twenty yards out which nestled into the bottom corner of the net.
Dan Dolling then glanced a header inches wide, before Cobey saw his innovative volley brilliantly saved by Morrisey in the Barnton goal.
The resumption of play after the half-time interval saw a flurry of speculative efforts from both sides, before Shaun Holden broke free down the right hand side and agonisingly smashed his low drive into the side netting from an acute angle.
The Silkmen were to take the lead just before the hour mark when Jordan pristinely controlled the ball in the penalty area, before firing home from ten yards out.
The lead was extended on 65 minutes when Holden burst down the right, before he squared the ball for Freddie Sass to tap home at the far post.
The match arguably ended as a contest nineteen minutes from time as Jordan showed brilliant control in the box, before expertly rifling the ball across the face of goal and into the net for number four.
The scoring was complete with barely a minute on the clock, when Mohammed Duran ended a flowing Silkmen move with a blistering finish from twelve yards.
