Charity project to tackle mental health
TWO Macclesfield youth charities will set up a project tackling mental health issues for young people with the aid of a £50,000 grant.
Just Drop In, on Duke Street, and Cre8, on Belgrave Road, have been given the money as part of the Young Minds Matter programme from Cheshire Community Forum.
Alongside a third charity, Wilmslow Youth, they will create a scheme called G8way, which will reach over 300 young people and encourages them to seek help and advice.
The project covers staff and volunteer development, digital help and the provision of free one-to-one counselling.
Zoe Sheppard, from Cheshire Community Foundation, said: “We are really pleased to be working with three such a deserving charities as part of our Young Minds Matter programme.
“We received a lot of applications from charities who work on projects relating to improving the mental health of young people and faced a very tough task in whittling the numbers down.
“G8way is such an important project for young people in Cheshire and we look forward to working with Just Drop In, Cre8 and Wilmslow Youth.”
