Firm’s charity choice
ANEWLY-OPENED dress agency has selected a charity as its beneficiary partner for the next 12 months.
Dress Cheshire, on New Road, Prestbury, opened in November and has chosen Caudwell Children as its charity of the year for 2018-19.
The aim is to raise enough money for Caudwell Children to supply a local youngster with a specialist therapy tricycle
Customers bring their unwanted items into the agency, where a sales price is agreed with the owner Christine Colbert.
The seller is then given the choice of donating a percentage of the retail price to the charity.
With much of the second hand stock - or ‘preloved’ stock as Christine calls it - expected to consist of high value items, she is confident of hitting her target.
She said: “It’s down to the seller to say what percentage they want to donate to Caudwell Children, after the item is sold, but so far they’ve been extremely generous.
“We sell preloved items because we believe the world’s most fabulous fashion deserve to be loved a little bit longer.
“With high value items like this on sale we’re confident that we’ll raise the £2,500 needed to buy the tricycle.”
Shoppers will be able to identify items that raise funds for Caudwell Children through a label bearing the charity’s logo.
Caudwell Children provides practical and emotional support to children with disabilities.
Lotta Bowers, from the charity, said: “This is fantastic news, the partner- ship will not only raise vital funds for the charity it will also raise brand awareness.
“This is such a clever initiative and one that will allow people to raise vital funds for a local disabled child whilst dressing to impress.
“Therapy tricycles have been designed to assist children with mobility issues in their physical development and rehabilitation.
“They help to develop muscle tone, stamina and reduce fatigue whilst giving children the independence they need to lead more fulfilled lives.”
