New drop in centre opens for elderly
A NEW day centre for older people has opened its doors and is inviting people to drop in.
Always Active Day Centre opened on Hobson Street last month and is aimed at people with dementia and other aged-related conditions.
It offers activities including crafts, board games, exercise classes and bingo as well as guest speakers, entertainment and day trips.
The centre is open on Mondays between 10am and 3pm and organisers already have similar operations in Poynton, Wilmslow, Handforth and Chester.
Maxine Peak, from the centre, said: “We provide a range of activities, a chance to socialise and meet friends and a meal for older people.
“Light snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon and a hot, well-balanced meal at lunchtime.
“We are not publicly funded, however, help with payments is available.”
