THE festive season got into full swing at Ma c c l e s f i e l d ’ s Grosvenor Centre with schoolchildren lending their annual helping hand.

Pupils from Ash Grove Academy, on Belgrave Road, visited the shopping centre to sing Christmas carols.

They performed festive favourites for shoppers two days running and it is the eighth year in a row youngsters from the school have done this.

Centre Manager Ed Kennedy said he was thrilled to have them back once again.

He said: “Welcoming Ash Grove Academy is always a highlight on our Christmas calendar.

“It was brilliant to have them in to perform for our shoppers. With Christmas less than two weeks away, it was wonderful to have the songs being heard across the malls.

“Carolling is a classic Christmas activity and I’m thrilled that so many shoppers enjoyed the performances from the gifted children.

“I’m pleased that we’ve formed such a long-standing partnership with Ash Grove Academy and that we’re able to provide them with a platform to showcase their singing abilities to the Macclesfield public each year.”

Kevin Simpson, executive principal at Ash Grove Academy, said: “We’d just like to say a huge thank you to the Grosvenor Centre for having us back again this year.

“The children have had a wonderful time entertaining the shoppers and are already looking forward to coming again next year.”
