Festive cheers raise funds for Whitby trip

-

PUPILS at Hurdsfield Primary has a busy time spreading festive cheer and raising money for a school trip.

Year six students sang for parishioners at a carol service at Hurdsfield Trinity Church and then visited their local Tesco for a fundraising bag pack at the checkouts.

They also had a tour of the store, on which they discussed the different countries food had come from before sampling it in a tasting session.

As a thank you the children returned to Tesco later in the week for another carol singing performance.

So far they have raised just over £500 towards their residential trip to Whitby, in North Yorkshire.

Headteacher James Cash said: “Nothing makes a headteacher happier than receiving positive praise about their pupils from members of the public and this week was no exception.

“During year six’s visits to Tesco, they wowed the public with their manners and good humour to such an extent that I was inundated with positive comments.

“Thank you so much to Tesco for their hospitality and to all the customers for their amazing generosity.”
