Macc grab a big victory as top sides fall
immediately above us in the table.
This can be done now that the squad is looking stable under the management of Marshall Gadd and his team.
Around Priory Park on Saturday the results did not go the way of the other sides with the 2nd XV going down up in Lancashire at Vale of Lune, and the 3rd team lost out at home to Wirral Seconds – but the 4th XV kept up winning ways at Linley with a good 17-3 victory.
FOR those of you who are in the 200 Club I can give you the result of the draw for November and December which was held at the club last week:
November – 1st: Willie Montgomery, 2nd: David Holder and 3rd: Margaret Cohen
December – 1st: Jim Sharp, 2nd: Nick Hynes and 3rd: Dave Armstrong.
As always this 200 Club assists the club in its quest for finances and if you wish to join and be in with a chance of some cash, then get in touch with Albert Simpson at the club.
As we now approach the festive season and in deepest winter I wonder when we will see the floodlights at the club restored to full working order as three of the bulbs have now been unlit for some time and, in my view, it does not reflect well on the club – especially when staging 1st XV games on the pitch.
I understand that it requires specialist equipment to restore these bulbs, but if any more go out I wonder if referees will be happy to officiate in games when full facilities are not available – just a thought.
As this will be my last column for 2018, may I wish all rugby followers a very happy and prosperous Christmas and 2019 – and I will be back in the new year.
GAMES FOR SATURDAY:
1st XV v. Chester – Away – 3pm. Chester play at Hare Lane, Littleton, Chester, CH3 7DB, which from my Tytherington address is about 37 miles, so allow a good hour for travel.
