Boss eyes signings in next window

- SHELDAN KEAY

MACC Town boss Sol Campbell is targeting around four signings when the January transfer window opens next month.

Campbell has been at the Moss Rose for around three weeks so far, and he hopes he will be in a position to make improvements to his squad in the near future.

“For me every manager is in the position where they get phone calls from around the world for players, and I’m no different,” he said.

“I will look to strengthen the squad but it depends on budget and a lot of things. I’d like to be in a position where I can look for two, three or four players to come in.”

Before the transfer window opens, Campbell has a busy festive period to prepare for, and he is aware of the challenges ahead of him in the coming weeks.

“You’ve got to be conscious of the fact that the whole squad needs to be used, so there will be less training and more recovery,” he said.

“We’ve got to get it right and utilise everybody and make sure that the team that goes out is strong enough to win the game.

“The players are a great bunch of lads and there is some real quality in there.

“Me demanding more of them is good because they can see how far they can go.”
