Window smashed as car drove into shop
A SHOP was damaged when a car drove into it on Christmas Eve morning.
Police were called to the Spar, on Brocklehurst Way, Tytherington, shortly before 7.30am.
It is believed a woman in a Land Rover lost control and knocked over a metal bollard before crashing into the window.
The driver, in her 70s, was not seriously injured, and staff in the shop were unharmed.
A Spar spokesman said: “It was just an accident, we remained open as normal. The area was cordoned off and if customers wanted anything from it we were able to go in and get it.”
The badly damaged window was fixed later the same day.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “There was a one-vehicle collision, it went through a metal bollard and into the front of the shop.
“Significant damage was caused to the window. Staff inside were ok and the driver was in shock but with no visible injuries.”
The previous day a woman suffered minor injuries and was cut from her Toyota Yaris following a crash with a Ford Focus on Bonis Hall Lane, Prestbury, at 4.35pm
