Fraud charge for for­mer coun­cil­lor

A FOR­MER Cheshire East coun­cil­lor has been charged with fraud by false rep­re­sen­ta­tion.

Wil­liam Lives­ley, of Moss Lane, Mac­cles­field, ap­peared at Stock­port Mag­is­trates Court on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 17.

The 65-year-old was re­leased on un­con­di­tional bail and he is due to ap­pear at Ch­ester Crown Court on Mon­day, Jan­uary 14.

Mr Lives­ley, who is known as Bill, was a Con­ser­va­tive coun­cil­lor who rep­re­sented Bolling­ton for many years.

He lost his seat on Cheshire East Coun­cil in the 2015 elec­tion.

The fol­low­ing year he was made an hon­orary al­der­man.

Dur­ing his time serv­ing as a Cheshire East coun­cil­lor, Mr Lives­ley was also a mem­ber of the Cheshire Fire Au­thor­ity.

Be­fore he rep­re­sented the Bolling­ton ward on Cheshire East Coun­cil, Mr Lives­ley had been the mem­ber for Prest­bury and Tyther­ing­ton.
