Car­ols burn off calo­ries

HUN­DREDS of res­i­dents worked off the Christ­mas calo­ries with a climb of Ker­ridge Ridge for the fes­tive tra­di­tion of car­ols by White Nancy.

Bolling­ton Brass Band played sea­sonal songs for crowds to join in with on Christ­mas Day af­ter­noon.

And a mys­tery guest dressed as Ru­dolph ar­rived and was com­man­deered to help con­duct the mu­sic.

Steve Mur­phy, 63, from Bolling­ton, at­tended with his fam­ily and says the event has been hap­pen­ing for more than a decade.

He said: “It is a Christ­mas tra­di­tion in Bolling­ton and it is fab­u­lous.

“You know you’ve had a climb when you get there but White Nancy is a much-loved mon­u­ment and it is def­i­nitely worth it.”

The event be­gan at 1pm and saw around half an hour of mu­sic be­fore hun­dreds of guests drifted off back home for Christ­mas din­ner.
