Trees are set on fire

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after trees were set on fire on a residentia­l road.

The incident, which is being treated as deliberate, happened on Ivy Road, Macclesfie­ld, on Monday, May 13, at around 7pm.

One fire crew from Macclesfie­ld station were called to the blaze, which involved around three metres of conifers.

A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames before they spread further and firefighte­rs then spent 30 minutes dampening down the affected area.
