Extra patrols as thieves snatch stones off bridge

-

POLICE have been patrolling near a bridge that has fallen victim to stone theft.

Thieves have removed part of the bridge near Clarence Mill, Bollington, and officers have also appealed for witnesses.

In response patrols were stepped up both there and at other places in the area known to have been targeted.

Bollington Police posted a picture of the damage on their Facebook page.

PCSO Hannah Jackson said: “We have been made aware of stones that have been taken from around the canal bridge outside Clarence Mill. I have been patrolling the area as well as other known hotspots.”

Earlier this year police had warned of an increase in stone thefts - particularly in Macclesfield’s more rural areas - with Rainow and Adlington targeted.
