TWO local boys have been selected among the 50 best cricketers for their age in Cheshire.

Christian Smith and Charlie Kaye, both aged 11, have received a cap for the Cheshire District under-11 squad.

Both Year 6 pupils at King’s School, the two boys have been friends since they first met on the rugby pitch aged seven and still play cricket together at Alderley Edge Cricket Club.

Christian’s dad Tony, Chair of the Junior’s Cricket section at Alderley Edge Cricket Club said: “It’s great to see Charlie and Christian continue to enjoy their cricket, both at school and for their club.

“I am pleased for the boys that their skill and potential to lead to them being selected into the Cheshire District squad, and look forward to supporting them both at the upcoming District matches.”
