School remains in inspectors’ good books
A SCHOOL has been given a decent report card after retaining its good rating with Ofsted inspectors.
The government watchdog visited Bollinbrook Primary, on Abbey Road, Macclesfield, and were impressed with what they saw. The subsequent report, published earlier this month, ranks the school as good for effectiveness and praises its safeguarding.
It also says headteacher Lynne Le Marinel, who was appointed in September last year has ‘galvanised staff’ and developed a ‘strong shared vision’.
The report says: “Teachers and teaching assistants are committed to raising expectations and ensuring that all pupils achieve their potential in all aspects of their education.
“You have worked effectively with your new leadership team to identify what is working well in the school and what needs to improve further. There have been significant changes in staffing in the past year.”
It was said pupils are well behaved and focused on learning in ‘most lessons’, also benefiting from a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Previously writing skills had been viewed as a weakness but this area had seen progress, albeit with some still to go.
Early years provision was also said to be good with pupils having ‘stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments’.
The report did outline some areas for further progress.
These included the challenging of more able pupils in key stage two and giving youngsters the opportunity to ‘write in detail in subjects other than English’.
Ofsted’s visit was classed as a ‘short inspection’ following a full version in 2015, when the school was graded as good.
