New fire recruit is ready for duty
ANEW recruit has joined Macclesfield fire station after successfully completing his training.
Sean Coles, 27, is now an on-call firefighter for the station, on Chester Road, and is also part way through his training to be an apprentice firefighter.
His hard work culminated in a passing-out parade at The Park Royal Hotel in Warrington.
Sean said: “Becoming an on-call firefighter is
such a rewarding role that allows you to work with some remarkable people and help those in need.
“It allows you to challenge yourself and learn new skills to deal with incidents such as trauma care, working from height, road traffic collisions, hazardous materials, fighting fires and many more.
“I’d encourage anyone else who’s looking for a job which pushes you, makes you want to achieve more and help those around you to consider becoming an on-call firefighter.”
Away from fire service work, Sean is a married father-of-three and also a Jiu jitsu expert.
His passing out ceremony was attended by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s chief fire officer Mark Cashin, and deputy chair of Cheshire Fire Authority Councillor Stef Nelson.
Gus O’Rouke, assistant chief officer, said: “I would like to congratulate Sean for completing his training and to welcome him to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
“Working with the fire and rescue service is a thoroughly experience.
“It gives individuals the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and meet people in the community, as well as to respond to emergency incidents within Cheshire.
“Sean has now been rewarding posted as an on-call firefighter at Macclesfield fire station and will be paid for the work he does responding to emergencies.”
