A BB Stableford for Prestbury’s men had runaway winners in J Bianchi and M Gibson with 46 points, four more than G Tebay and C O’Neill, Fred Bridge and P
Atherton and M Prescott and E McGrath,
A Team Crash for Macclesfield ladies was won by Wendy Higgins, Marjorie Mottershead and Lindsey Monk with 44.2 from Kay Atkin, Judy Mutter and June Sumner 45.3.
Macc ladies also enjoyed a Winter League Stableford and none more than Kay Atkin who posted 23 points, two more than Wendy Higgins.
The latest 9-hole Pro’s Stableford at Alderley Edge was won by Paul Ellis with 19 points from John Newsham 16.
A Seniors Par competition at Avro was won by Peter Hale on +3 from
Leslie Fowler and David Fortune, both +2 and Derek Jones +1.
Peter Hale made his a double as he won a Winter League Stableford with 38 points from Wayne Griffiths, Kevin
Barker and Derek Ellershaw, all 36.
The Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall was won by
Mark Brierley with 40 points from Peter Trussell 38, Rod Scott 37 and club legend Don Farquharson 35.
The latest Winter League Stableford at Shrigley needed a cpo on 39 points to take Mark Edwards clear of Ray Haddock, two more than Roger White, Mark Knight and Steve Marsh.
Styal seniors played a Winter League Stableford and the magical skills of Mike Hinde came to the fore as he won a cpo on 40 points from Bruce Cochrane, five more than Paul Carr and David Marriott.
Ged Stephens was in a league of his own in division one of a Saturday Stableford at Styal with 36 points, three more than Chris Hart, Anton Bardsley and Anthony Guy.
In division two there was an even more convincing winner in Chris
Harris who posted a huge 43 points, 12 more than Brent Vose and Chris Buckley.
The latest Ladies Winter League at Styal was won by Mel Hill with 20 points from
Pat Chadwick 18 and Nancy Chorlton 17.
The Manchester and District Ladies Golf Association is the biggest organisation of its kind in the country and runs several competitions throughout a busy season for well over 80 clubs.
The top competition is the Inter Club match-play knock out for the Bell Cup which featured the top seven players in the club.
The competition was first played for in 1909 and last year’s winners were Delamere Forest GC who beat Dean Wood in a thrilling contest at Pike Fold GC.
The clubs in 2020 will be aiming to make finals day at Wilmslow Golf Club on Friday September 4 where the last four teams will play morning semi-finals with the winners going through to the final.
Wilmslow is the home club of the MDLGA President Sue Milroy and she has drawn the preliminary and round one matches and in the preliminary round holders Delamere Forest face a tricky trip to Fairfield.
