Park runners to back Women’s Day

-

MACCLESFIELD Parkrun will be supporting International Women’s Day.

The 5km event at South Park will be held on Saturday, March 7, and is one of many across the globe supporting the movement.

Women and girls are being encouraged to run, jog or walk or to volunteer at parkrun and men are being asked to volunteer to support the women to run.

Councillor Fiona Wilson, from Macclesfield Town Council, said: “I am proud to have been involved with Macclesfield Parkrun since the beginning.

“It is great to see how our event has grown, with regular runners, those new to running and particularly our younger runners. Our best attendance ever at parkrun in Macclesfield was 399 so come along on 7 March and help us to smash that record.”

The event starts at 9am from the bandstand. Volunteers are needed to marshal, timekeep, hand out finish tokens and scan barcodes. Pace runners are also needed.

Macclesfield’s Junior Parkrun is held at

Victoria Park on Sundays from 9am. For more information visit Macclesfield Parkrun’s Facebook page.
