Women escape from flat fire
TWO women needed hospital treatment after they escaped from their burning home.
Firefighters were called to a groundfloor flat at Chantry Court, Macclesfield, on Friday, February 21, shortly before 2pm.
The blaze had started in the bedroom and crews from Macclesfield and Bollington stations extinguished it with a hose reel jet.
Paramedics assessed the two women who had fled and they were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has now been launched.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Smoke alarms were sounding and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
“Firefighters then damped the bedroom down to make it safe and inspected the flat to make sure that the fire had not spread.”
A fan was used to clear the flat of smoke.
