MACCLESFIELD Town head coach Mark Kennedy described his players as

‘outstanding’ following their 1-1 draw at home to Plymouth Argyle last week.

Shilow Tracey scored his first goal for the Silkmen to open the scoring, but a late equaliser from Antoni Sarcevic ensured Plymouth earned a point. While his side may have been denied the victory, Kennedy was still pleased with what he saw.

“I thought the lads were outstanding in every aspect We all want to win games, but we need to be rational and realistic sometimes and Plymouth had a huge amount of possession in the second half,” he said.

“So, they’ll walk away thinking they deserve something, but I’ll look at how many times we worked the keeper and take the positives away from that.

“I know we’ll always be hard to beat but the big plus is that in the last two games we started to work the opposition which is really important.

“The negative is that we all want the clean sheet at the end of the game. We know that Plymouth play good football and I love their style of play, its brilliant. But if you give us the opportunity to pressure, we’ll do that.

“I’m really pleased for Shilow Tracey as he worked really hard, I pecked Tottenham’s head off to get him. He can’t develop and progress without the rest of the team and that goes for all of our squad.

“He got substituted for David Fitzpatrick because he’s just not ready for 90 minutes at the moment.

“I’ve coached at under 23s level and I believe it’s fantastic, but it’s nothing compared to men’s football.

“Listen, I could play under 23s football and I’m 43 years old!

“For us to be successful this year everybody has to play a role. I’ve been substituted plenty of times in my career and it’s important for the players to reflect on why and how they can improve.”

“I have to say a massive thank you to our fans, they continue to get behind us and support us. We’re really aware and thankful for of that.”
