Poynton has county’s biggest feel good factor
POYNTON has been named the best place in Cheshire for community wellbeing.
The Co-op’s Community Wellbeing Index aims to show where areas are thriving, and where communities can come together to make improvements.
It looks at indicators such as jobs, health, public spaces, schools, public transport, and culture.
By entering your postcode, the index will reveal your community’s overall wellbeing score based on results across nine specific areas.
And Poynton had the highest overall average score for community wellbeing in Cheshire, at 70.7 out of 100.
It does particularly well for access to museums, galleries and theatres, access to good schools, and good health for residents.
However, it may need to look at household churn and older people living alone, which might increase isolation, as well as gaps between the rich and poor in terms of house prices and qualifications.
Steve Murrells, the Co-op’s chief executive officer, said:
“Up until now it has been almost impossible for a community to have a true measure of its strengths and weaknesses but by bringing this wealth of information together in an easily accessible way we are helping everyone know exactly where they stand.
“This is invaluable information is not only for politicians, planners and community leaders but also individuals who want to understand what is needed to make their community even better.”
Bearsden, a town in East Dunbartonshire in Scotland, had the highest overall average score for wellbeing in the UK, at 82 out of 100.
