Pool appeal halfway to £100k goal A
SPECIAL school is halfway towards its fundraising target as it bids to upgrade its hydrotherapy pool.
Park Lane School, in Macclesfield, wants to raise £100,000 and has passed the £50,000 mark.
The hydrotherapy pool is an important aid for pupils but needs refurbishing.
In particular, some pupils with additional physical needs face real challenges in getting in and out of it. The pool also has wider community benefits as it is used by paediatric physiotherapists and children’s swimming groups.
Money raised so far has come from the support of Beech Hall School, Poynton Round Table and the Friends of Park Lane School.
MP David Rutley visited the school and was shown round by chair of governors Tandy Palmes and headteacher Lorraine
Warmer. He was able to see for himself how pupils benefit from their time there.
Mr Rutley said: “Park Lane School does vital work supporting local young people with a range of complex challenges to reach their full potential, and its hydrotherapy pool is undoubtedly one of its most treasured assets, used to help many of the school’s least mobile children.
“I was pleased to hear about the positive steps the school is taking to reach its fundraising target to upgrade this highlyvalued facility, and the further initiatives planned to achieve this important aim.
“I am grateful to the school’s excellent governors and staff for their tireless efforts for pupils, and would ask local residents to be generous in their support for this important project.”
