Proud of what we’ve achieved: Kennedy

-

MARK Kennedy insists his Macclesfeld Town side should be proud of what they’ve achieved so far - despite their recent poor run of form.

The Silkmen have failed to win any of their last eight games, drawing two and losing six, with the most recent of those losses coming against

Salford City over the weekend.

While the run of defeats has seen Macclesfield drop to second bottom in the League Two table, Kennedy is still pleased with what his team have accomplished since he was brought in as manager back in January.

“I keep going back to where we were when we came in and where we are now,” he said.

“We’ve spoken a lot about playing the top seven teams or the top ten clubs, but when we play the teams in the bottomhalf of the table; I’m not expecting an easier game.

“I’m not expecting us to all of a sudden go and start winning three or four nil. Obviously the difference between the top and bottom will be decision-making and consistency, so I’m expecting really tough games.

“But where we are and where we started with the teams we’ve had to play to begin with – I think lads deserve an extraordinary amount of credit for where they are today.

“They’ve extended the lead on the team who is bottom of the league and I’ve clearly seen progress.

“If we look at the stats and figures from the games going forward, certainly since we changed the system, there has been a huge emphasis on being more effective in the final third and we’ve seen that in terms of more shots on goal, final third entries and crosses.

“The finishing touch is putting the ball in the back of the net - but we’re working on it.”
