Mark has a plan for Plymouth M

-

ACCLESFIELD Town head coach Mark Kennedy already has a gameplan in place to face Plymouth Argyle at the weekend as the club look to end a winless run of eight games.

The Silkmen return to action on Saturday when they head to Home Park to face Plymouth, following their 2-0 home defeat to Salford City.

While Kennedy was frustrated that his Macc side came up short against Salford, he’s made it clear that a plan has been in place for a while on how to defeat Plymouth this weekend.

“We have our game plan for Plymouth, and we’ve had it for a while now. We’re very clear on what we want to do and how we’re going to do it, but I’m not going to cgive it all away,” he said.

“I was obviously very disappointed to lose last week. I thought we started the game really well and on the front foot, but the conditions and elements were tough and Salford are also a really tough side to beat.

“We struggled to hurt them, but I thought we were in control of the game, especially under the circumstances.

“We were unfortunate in conceding the first goal but the second was bitterly disappointing. I really fancied us in the second half, and I thought that if we could get a goal, we’d change the dimensions of the game. I thought we fizzled out in the second-half which really disappointed me because we made several changes, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

“We’re the nicest team in the world. We’re an incredibly young team and I saw recently that we have the most minutes played in English clubs this season by under-23year olds. We’re building as we go along.

“In terms of the dark arts of the game I don’t want my players diving but we can be very naïve and inexperienced in specific moments.”

Macclesfield head into the game in 23rd place in the League Two table, eight points above bottom side Stevenage, who have a game in hand.

Plymouth have performed well so far this season, and currently sit in fifth position, with 18 wins, eight draws and nine defeats from their 35 matches.

They head into the match with Macclesfield having failed to win any of their last three games though, including a 2-1 defeat to Bradford City on Saturday.

Macc and Plymouth met in the reverse fixture just three weeks ago after it was postponed from the original date, with the game ending 1-1 at the Moss Rose in mid-February.

Shilow Tracey opened the scoring for Macclesfield just after the half hour mark, but Antoni Sarcevic scored a late equaliser to ensure both sides earned a point.
